Deng Yongqing(1920-1998) was born in Tongshan District of Xuzhou. He was the veteran of the New Fourth Army and the former deputy minister of National Sixth Ministry.

Mr Deng said that I have done two things in all my life: participating the army and collecting these ancient paintings and calligraphy. During the spare time, Mr Deng economized himself in food and clothing to buy lots of ancient paintings and calligraphy and other fine arts. He once was one of the ten painting and calligraphy collectors. In 1990s, Mr Deng and Mrs Deng donated all their 280 paintings and calligraphy to Xuzhou Museum by twice. All these works will be the most important works of Xuzhou Museum.

These paintings and calligraphy were the famous real works in Ming and Qing Dynasty, including calligrapher and painter of late Ming Dynasty, painters of school of Yangzhou and some less popular works. There are also some national 1^st level culture relics like Plum blossom of Zhu Da of Ming Dynasty, Plum of Jin Nong of Qing Dynasty. Although there are not so many works of modern times, all of them are Qi Baishi, Zhang Daqian, Huang Binhong and Xu Beihong’s works.

This year is 20^th year from the donating day and during this new spring day, so we choose some of them to display to visitors to show the respect to Mr Deng.
