Activity | Xuzhou Museum Organizes Activities on Cultural Heritage Day

      June 10th, 2017 is China's first "Cultural and Natural Heritage Day". In order to implement "State Council's Instructions on Furthering Conservation Work", give full play to cultural heritage in supporting the "Belt and Road Initiative", encourage public force to represent conservation effects in various respects and perspectives, and improve the public's awareness of cultural heritage conservation, Xuzhou Museum has organized and planned a series of theme publicity campaigns.

       (I) "Love Xuzhou, love my hometown": preliminary contest for civilized young guides

      1 . Time: 8:30a.m.-5:00p.m., June 3rd-4th
      2. Venue: Lecture Hall, Xuzhou Museum
      The activity is jointly held by Xuzhou Committee of Communist Youth League of China, Education Bureau, Tourism Bureau, Hometown Watching Foundation, and Youth Palace. The mass-election venue is organized by Xuzhou Museum. More than 300 children registered the contest. This activity aims to improve children's understanding of history and traditional Chinese culture, enhance their confidence, and help them obtain a sense of civilization, social responsibility and ownership.
      (II) "There is a treasure in my house": experts from Xuzhou Museum authenticate citizens' artwork collections for public good
      1. Time: 9:00a.m.-4:00p.m., June 9th-10th
      2. Venue: Consulting center in Emperor Qianlong's Temporary Imperial Palace, Xuzhou Museum
      Xuzhou Museum organizes experts in cultural relics authentication to verify all types of artworks, including jade, antique, calligraphy and paintings, for citizens free of charge, which will help improve the citizens' capability and level of art appreciation.
      (III) Lecture on morality: lecture series with the theme of "traditional Chinese culture"
      1. Time: 9:00a.m.-12:00, June 10th
      2. Venue: Lecture Hall, Xuzhou Museum
      Mr. Li Shiming, vice director of Xuzhou Society of History Records, will be introduced to address "Chinese Wisdom: Twenty-Four Solar Terms and Folk Customs"; Ms. Wang Chunming, director of Xuzhou Guanfangxuan Traditional Culture and Art Center, will address "The Way of Nature: Flower Arrangement in Traditional Chinese Art"; Mr. Han Feng, president of Pengcheng Academy, will address "Will Xuzhou Han Tombs Be Ranked in World Heritage?" The three lectures will give the public an appreciation of culture and art, and publicize the outstanding traditional culture in Xuzhou.
     (IV) Public archaeological activity in Tushan Han Tomb
      1. Time: 9:30a.m., June 10th
      2. Venue: Tomb 2, Tushan Han Tomb
      Archaeologists are organized by Xuzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology to explore Tomb 2 on site. Provincial and municipal news media will be invited to make live reports. The public will be given access to the archaeological site and experience the mysterious culture through thousands of years.
      (V) Exhibition of calligraphy and painting boutiques from Pengcheng Academy
      1. Time: June 4th - June 11th
      2. Venue: Xu Peichen Art Gallery
      The activity is jointly organized by Pengcheng Academy and Xuzhou Museum. Calligraphy and painting boutiques created by part of the calligraphers and painters in Xuzhou will be on display, so as to inherit and publicize calligraphy and painting culture, and create a strong atmosphere of calligraphy and painting in Xuzhou.
      (VI) Public interpretations free of charge in four periods
      1. Time: 9:20a.m., 10:20a.m., 2:20p.m., 3:20p.m.
      2. Venue: Exhibition Hall, Xuzhou Museum
      Four cultural museum experts of Xuzhou Museum will show the public around the exhibition, and give in-depth interpretation of stories about the cultural relics.
