Xuzhou Museum Held "Egyptian Culture Meets Han Culture; Dialogue of Civilization Across Time and Space -- Special Exhibition of Ancient Egyptian Cultural Relics"

      The opening ceremony was presided over by Li Xiaojun, curator of Xuzhou Museum, Han Feng, member of the Party committee and deputy director of Xuzhou Municipal of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau , and Shen Chen, deputy curator of the Royal Ontario Museum of Canada, and AI Weidun, Consul General of Canada in Shanghai as guests.

      Han Feng, member of the Party committee and deputy director of Xuzhou Municipal Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, pointed out that the Xuzhou Museum, together with the Royal Ontario Museum of Canada, held a special exhibition of ancient Egyptian cultural relics, the first overseas cultural relics exhibition in Xuzhou history, as well as a special exhibition commemorating the 60th anniversary of Xuzhou Museum. The theme of this exhibition is the meeting of ancient Egyptian civilization with Han culture. It not only shows the civilization of Nile Valley in ancient Egypt, but also realizes the inheritance and promotion of Han culture. In order to promote in-depth exchanges between Xuzhou Museum and the Royal Ontario Museum of Canada, cultural relics of the Han Dynasty in Xuzhou will also be scheduled to debut in Canada next year. It is hoped that Xuzhou museum will take this special exhibition as a new opportunity to tell the story of civilization of Han Dynasty in Xuzhou on the world stage and further enhance the international influence and popularity of Han culture in Xuzhou.

       Shen Chen, deputy director of the Royal Ontario Museum of Canada, on behalf of Josh basseches, director of the Royal Ontario Museum, and his colleagues, first expressed warm congratulations on the successful opening of the special exhibition of ancient Egypt. The cooperation of the special exhibition made Xuzhou people feel very honored to share the exquisite collection of ancient Egypt and art together. He pointed out that the connection between ancient Egyptian civilization and Chinese Han civilization is that the ancient civilization of Xuzhou with the charm of Chu and Han Dynasty has become a window for the world famous brand of Xuzhou civilization to go to the world. Under the influence of Xuzhou, a strong civilization of Han Dynasty, the Egyptian civilization has been further recognized and interpreted. He expects that in the near future, the exquisite Han Dynasty cultural relics of Xuzhou museum will also appear in Canada as soon as possible, winning the audience of Toronto with the charm of Xuzhou's ancient civilization.

      Ai Weidun, Canadian Consul General in Shanghai, pointed out that Xuzhou Museum and the Royal Ontario Museum of Canada jointly held such a successful project, which symbolized the long-term friendship between the two peoples. The friendly relations between Jiangsu Province and Ontario have been very long, and the Canadian government has always attached great importance to people to people exchanges.       The exhibition officially started on June 28 and lasted for three months until September 28.
