Cultural Research Project “Meet in Beijing” of Xuzhou Museum

      Introduction:

       Research study is an extension of learning in campus or in the classroom. As the old saying goes, "Reading thousands of books is better than travelling thousands of miles", when students have a certain understanding of the world in class learning, through an outdoor practice they can achieve earnest and improve their mental state. Through the effectively integrating resources, actively exploring teenagers education work, combining the theories of pedagogy and psychology, Xuzhou museum planned the "Meet in Beijing" theme activities and related courses that suit teenagers at different age since it was awarded the "National Research and Practice Education Base for Primary and Middle school students" by the Ministry of Education in 2018.        

      In 2019, our museum will launch a series of research activities together with other major museums. At the beginning of the spring, we will begin our research trip at the first stop - Beijing!

Beijing, a city of tradition and modernity, was the capital of five dynasties in history. It built many magnificent palace buildings, making Beijing become a city with the largest number of imperial palaces, gardens, temples and tombs and a city that has the richest contents in China. At the same time, it also creates unique royal culture and folk culture. As the political and cultural center of the country, modern Beijing continues to lead the trend of the times. Large cultural venues, advanced public facilities and high-quality educational resources all embody the charm of a modern metropolis.

Capital Museum, the whole morning

To understand the magnificent Beijing culture, from the establishment of the Yan kingdom in West Zhou dynasty to the  Yuan dynasty and to the Forbidden City in Ming and Qing dynasty, and to see how Beijing continued to move towards the glorious history of the capital; To appreciate the fine collection of bronze and ceramic art, and to understand the ancient ritual and traditional Chinese porcelain crafts.

Led by museum experts and through the analysis of the imperial architecture and rules of the Forbidden City in the past 600 years, we will understand the structure and specifications of the China ancient architecture, from the throne room’s colorful drawing to the immortal’s riding beast, from the windows’ pattern to the emperor’s power, we will understand the real royal palace that is different from the movie and the play. We also will learn the culture, history, science and technology and art elements of ancient Chinese architecture.

Beijing People’s Art Theatre is the first theatre of the Republic in the field of drama stage art and National Centre for the Performing Arts of China is the palace of art. Whichever you go, it will give you the unique feelings. It not only has the popular articles of many masters such as Bajin, Laoshe and Caoyu, but also has the spirit of craftsman of these arts predecessors. Is it only a performance or a visit? More important, it is a baptism of our soul!

We will have professional teachers take you into the Chinese traditional landscape painting to interpret its artistic thought or help you know about more knowledge of painting to interpret and feel the beauty our life, which will make us fall in love with the elegant art.

Not only "Science and Technology are the first productivity", but many students are crazy about science and technology. Nowadays, science and technology have already been into every aspect of our life, however, have you ever thought about all the scientific and technological achievements are from the basic subject such as sound, light, electricity, magnetic, mechanical, chemical, biological and other basic physical and chemical and biological sciences. Here, together with the professional teacher, we will learn the interesting and incredible scientific phenomena and principle to inspire the scientific interest of students.
